I specialise in natural portraits of children, babies and families at your home or on location.
My aim as a children's portrait photographer is simple... to capture relaxed images of your family that are a true reflection of your personality. My relaxed style works best in the comfort & convenience of your own home or out on location in the familiar surroundings of a favourite place where the children can let loose & have a good run around like your local park, playground, beach... It's your choice.
PHOTO SHOOT DAY
My approach to photographing children is to stand back a little & observe to help create natural images of childhood play, family interactions & special relationships. As a female photographer I feel I'm able to work intuitively & sensitively to the needs of my subject. I like to capture a mixture of energetic play time as well as quieter more intimate moments. I recommend your photo shoot starts in the morning as early after breakfast as possible when everyone has lots of energy & the available natural daylight is usually best. I invest my time with you by only doing one shoot a day so we can take as long as we need to although it typically takes 3 to 4 hours. I can work around your normal routine & we can take short breaks if required especially with babies.

Any time of year works well for portraits in all the different seasons and weather conditions that we enjoy in the UK. I use natural daylight outdoors & light from windows when indoors to keep my portraits natural & complimentary. Sunny summer mornings in your garden, playing around in the colourful crisp autumn leaves, wrapped up warm in wellies, hats & scarves to splash in winter puddles & springtime rain showers or playing with favourite toys indoors in a warm, light-filled conservatory. Every season provides ever changing natural backdrops for unique portraits as your children grow & change so quickly from tiny newborns to adventurous princesses and pirates.
MY PRINT RECOMMENDATIONS
I shoot everything in colour & then convert the majority of your images to black & white during the editing process. I recommend black & white images for portraits as they are classic & timeless often producing the most flattering results without the distractions of colours. Black & white photos do not date and will look just as good in many years to come to pass down to future generations. Sometimes images from your shoot can look exceptional in colour particularly if everyone's clothing has been thoughtfully co-ordinated. I recommend that I present your images to you in black & white and use colour where appropriate.

- I send you printed contact sheets to help you select your favourite photos.
